Wichita Awakening Concludes With Praise For Spared Life

Wichita, KS - July 17, 2007 - After a long day of prayer in front of George R. Tiller's notorious abortion mill, which netted a life saved from abortion, five hundred Christians attended the final praise and worship concert of the Wichita Awakening.

Earlier in the day, prayer and sidewalk counseling efforts paid off when a woman who had scheduled an abortion received encouragement to go instead to Choices Medical Center, a pro-life medical clinic located directly next door to Tiller's late-term abortion mill. A group of young people from the Cause and the Survivors prayed intensely for the life of the baby as the woman spent an hour at Choices. Finally, she emerged and thanked those who helped her and indicated to them that she had changed her mind about aborting her baby.

The group, which gathered at sunset at the Mid-American Indian Center, worshiped to the music of Leonard Jones, who opened with a song that he wrote for the event and received enthusiastic response from the crowd.

Operation Rescue hosted the event that was attended by an estimated 1,000 people over three days of prayer and intercession focused on Tiller's late-term abortion business. Tiller was recently charged with 19 criminal counts of committing illegal late-term abortions. The Wichita Awakening was part of the Cause's "God's Summer of Love" tour, and was co-sponsored by the Christian Defense Coalition of Washington, DC.

The Wichita Awakening had the largest attendance at Tiller's abortion clinic since the historic 1991 Summer of Mercy. It was attended by some of the pro-life movement's most notable leaders, including Norma McCorvey, the former "Roe" of Roe v. Wade, who now works to end abortion.

"The phenomenal response to this event can be attributed the collective shock and concern across our nation to Tiller's late-term abortion practice, for which he is now facing criminal charges, and to the increasing enthusiasm of the emerging generation to support the cause of life," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. "We are excited to see the fruit that will come from the seeds of prayer that were planted in Wichita over the weekend."

Wichita Awakening draws 570 to park for music and prayer

Wichita, KS - July 15, 2007 - As the sun sank of over the Kansas prairie, the grassy glade at the confluence of the Arkansas and Little Arkansas Rivers came to life with energetic praise and worship music and prayer that focused on repentance for the sin of abortion.

A group of 570 mostly young people gathered Sunday evening at the Wichita Awakening to accept the challenge from Norma McCorvey, the former "Roe" of Roe v. Wade, that those born after the 1973 Supreme Court decision should partner with her generation to see an end to abortion.

About three hundred of the young people were from The Cause, which is conducting "God's Summer of Love" across America to pray for repentance from the sins and excesses of the previous generation on the 40th anniversary of the 1967 "Summer of Love."

Rev. Pat Mahoney shared that he believes that God is ministering to him that we are in a time of breakthrough that will soon see an end to abortion.

Notorious abortionist George R. Tiller was recently charged with 19 criminal counts of committing illegal late-term abortions. However, he is still operating his infamous abortion mill and Operation Rescue says there is reason to believe that he is committing late-term abortions for trivial reasons in further violation of the law.

Monday, the Cause will spend the day at Tiller's late-term abortion mill, beginning at 8:30 AM. They will be back to the Mid-American Indian Center for a final Praise and Worship concert to end the Wichita Awakening, which is scheduled to run from 7 PM to midnight.

"We spent several days in Nashville (after THE CALL) worshipping and praying and
preparing for the road. Due to delays, we were forced to skip the
Mound City KS and head straight for Wichita, KS where we joined
with local pro-life groups in a Silent Siege wearing LIFE tape
outside the abortion clinic owned by the infamous abortionist,
George Tiller.

"Several reporters covered the story. Charisma magazine's
newsletter had this to say:

"More than 1,000 people surrounded an abortion clinic in Wichita,
Kan., last weekend to pray that abortion is outlawed and that the
late-term abortion charges filed against the clinic's owner, George
Tiller, would be upheld. The Wichita Awakening, held July 14-16 as
part of The Cause USA's "Summer of Love Tour," included prayer
vigils, speakers, and praise and worship concerts outside Tiller's
clinic, Women's Health Care Services.

"Some of the attendees wore red tape over their mouths with the word
"life" written across it, while others lay on the sidewalk in the
fetal position draped with a long blood-red cloth to protest the
murder of millions of babies.

"Norma McCorvey, the former "Roe" of Roe v. Wade who eventually
abandoned her pro-abortion stance, spoke at the event encouraging
the mostly young attendees to continue to fight for the lives of
the unborn in their generation.

"Troy Newman, president of Operation
Rescue, the Christian pro-life group that hosted the prayer rally,
said the event's large turnout could be attributed to the
"collective shock and concern" across the U.S. over recent news of
Tiller's potentially criminal late-term abortion practices.

"He also noted an increasing enthusiasm among the younger, emerging
generation to support the cause of life. "We are excited to see the
fruit that will come from the seeds of prayer that were planted
[here] in Wichita."

"Tiller is one of a few U.S. physicians who still perform abortions
after the baby is able to survive outside the womb. He was brought
up on charges on June 26 for violating Kansas' law against
late-term abortion procedures, the Associated Press reported. Last
year, the former Kansas attorney general filed 30 charges against
Tiller that were all eventually dropped.

Prayer Siege In Progress At Late-Term Abortion Mill

As late-term abortions begin, The Wichita Awakening draws attention to abortion atrocity

Wichita, KS - Approximately 300 people, most wearing red cloth tape printed with the word "LIFE" over their mouths, have surrounded Women's Health Care Services, the larges late-term abortion mill in the nation to pray for an end to abortion and that 19 criminal charges filed against the clinic owner, George Tiller, would stick.

About a dozen young people from a California youth group called the Survivors, lay on the sidewalk in the fetal position surrounded by chalk lines, such as would be seen around a body at a murder site. They are covered with red cloth to symbolize the innocent blood that is shed and to protest the killing of innocent pre-born children.

With live Christian music playing on a sound system, hundreds who have come to Wichita with The Cause on their "God's Summer of Love" tour, prayed and read their Bibles while others attempt to dissuade women from entering the clinic for late-term abortions that Operation Rescue believes are a continued violation of the Kansas ban on post-viability abortions.

"The way the charges were filed against Tiller, he is allowed to continue doing the same procedure for which he has been charged. We think that is crazy, and a total miscarriage of justice," said Newman. "Those gathered here today are expressing broken hearts for the lives that are needlessly and brutally killed, and are beseeching the Heavens for mercy for the innocent victims and justice for the perpetrators."

The prayer siege, part of the Wichita Awakening hosted by Operation Rescue, is ongoing and is scheduled to conclude at 4 PM today.

The Wichita Awakening will finish the evening with a Praise and Worship Service at 7PM at the Mid-American Indian Center. A similar service Sunday evening drew a crowd of 570.
