Salvation Springs Up

by Joe Cuda

"You heavens above, rain down righteousness; let the clouds shower it down. Let the earth open wide, let salvation spring up, let righteousness grow with it; I, the Lord, have created it. Isaiah 45:8

It was a night of family worship & prayer, a time where Shirley, Joel and I get together with our extended family to seek God's face. Over the past several months we have had a number of family meetings in one of the local churches, and have seen the hand of God move powerfully in answer to specific prayers. Tonight we anticipated another great night, but the Holy Spirit had a surprise in store for us that would be even greater than our expectations!

At this particular gathering we asked for testimonies about answers to prayers from our last meeting. We began to recount some of the major ones and gave praise to Jesus for His blessings. The testimonies spoke of some desperate physical, financial, and other needs -- God worked His wonders in them all. What joy as I realized the difference our corporate prayers were making in our family.

We focused on the greatness of God as we praised and worshipped Him. Songs of the Lord were born and prayers were expressed. At some point we shifted from live music to CD for soaking in His presence. Joann Macfatter's CD, "Messengers of Fire", turned out to be just what the Holy Spirit ordered -- releasing us to a realm of the Spirit of God that filled the room with His glory.

About an hour later, as the music continued, Shirley and her sister, Peggy, needed to go outside to the car. They noticed, in the darkness, a man walking his dog. He spoke to them and asked what was going on inside; they explained, and talked a little, eventually asking if he lived nearby. He turned and motioned across the street toward a house that had a lighted cross on the door and answered, " I live just to the right of the cross". That comment was too pointed to pass up! Shirley asked if he'd ever "been to the Cross". That turned the conversation toward spiritual matters. Turned out he was very ready for a much needed change in his life. A "recovering" alcoholic, he told them some of his story. They listened and invited him in to the church.

Once inside, we all had the pleasure of meeting this man, Robert. We listened as he explained more about his life and how he wanted a change. Shirley asked him if he wanted Jesus in his life. He responded with a resounding yes, revealing hunger for the spiritual in his life.

Each of us had an opportunity to share a nugget or two from the Lord. Our nephew, Dion, led out in prayer concerning Robert's battle with alcohol, Peggy and others joining in. I had a word about God's great love and healing power. Robert prayed a prayer of forgiveness and was gloriously born again! Praise the name of the Lord!

We laid hands on him and prayed some more. When the prayer was over God had given him a sign that this was real. He said our hands were penetratingly hot while on his shoulders. We explained that this was the fire of the Holy Spirit -- that same fire was now inside him. With tears in his eyes I gave him a big strong hug. I could feel the water of his tears of joy through my shirt. Others gave him hugs and we welcomed him into the family and Kingdom of God.

What a wonderful surprise the Holy Spirit had given to us. Another person plucked from the hand of the evil one and brought into the glorious light of Jesus Christ! We asked him if he would like to stay with us while we worshipped and prayed some more -- he said he would love to. Dion ended up talking with him at length about the things of the Spirit and we invited him to come to the church on Sunday. He was all for that and even said he would like to be baptized soon.

We gave Robert a Bible and Shirley showed him where the book of John was and suggested he start reading there. We'll be keeping in touch with him in the days ahead and covering him with prayer as he journeys on the road with Jesus.

By this time it was about 11:30pm. Dion offered to take him out to Denny's and all of us would join in, but Robert had to get up early to go to work, so he graciously declined.

Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails. Proverbs 19:21

Thank you Jesus for showing yourself strong -- for loving us when we don't deserve it -- for your AMAZING GRACE!

Happy 61st Anniversary ZA & Olive

Yes, it is 61 years to this day that ZA & Olive were married. Congratulations for holding onto Jesus and each other for all those years.

President Bush Proclaims National Sanctity of Human Life Day, 2007

Courtesy of Breaking Christian News

A Proclamation by the President of the United States of America:

White House Staff/AH (Jan 21st, 2007)

America was founded on the principle that we are all endowed by our Creator with the right to life and that every individual has dignity and worth. National Sanctity of Human Life Day helps foster a culture of life and reinforces our commitment to building a compassionate society that respects the value of every human being.

Among the most basic duties of Government is to defend the unalienable right to life, and my Administration is committed to protecting our society's most vulnerable members. We are vigorously promoting parental notification laws, adoption, abstinence education, crisis pregnancy programs, and the vital work of faith-based groups. Through the "Born-Alive Infants Protection Act of 2002," the "Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003," and the "Unborn Victims of Violence Act of 2004," we are helping to make our country a more hopeful place.

National Sanctity of Human Life Day serves as a reminder that we must value human life in all forms, not just those considered healthy, wanted, or convenient. Together, we can work toward a day when the dignity and humanity of every person is respected.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim Sunday, January 21, 2007, as National Sanctity of Human Life Day. I call upon all Americans to recognize this day with appropriate ceremonies and to underscore our commitment to respecting and protecting the life and dignity of every human being.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this eighteenth day of January, in the year of our Lord two thousand seven, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-first.

— GEORGE W. BUSH

Tumor Healed in Olympia!

Courtesy of Global Legacy --

David from Olympia told the story of a man in his church who runs a shop. A customer, whom he had known years ago, when asked how he is doing, answered, pretty bad. I have a tumor in my head that is going to kill me in a month. The man prayed for him, and God knocked the customer to the floor. Fearing he had had a grand mal seizure, the other employees were upset, and the brother calmed them down. A half hour later, the man walked out to return a month later and testify, "Let me tell you what happened. I went back to my doctor, and the tumor is completely gone!"

CA Prison Testimony

This report comes from Global Legacy --

Terry from Sonora, California reported good news from the Sierra Conservation Center, a prison in Jamestown, California. In recent months, they've seen an increasing move of God, with many inmates being filled with the Holy Spirit. Religious demons are leaving, and the men, who are pressing in to know God, are enjoying dreams and encounters. More inmates are on their worship team. There are three prisons: a minimum, medium and maximum. One Christian inmate on the medium had it on his heart to do a concert there, and he received favor to organize it. They had five bands, two of which were Christian. They opened it up to other inmates, so there were a Mexican, a rock and a blues band. They got to play together, which connected the Christians with the others. They held the concert on the yard, and it could be heard everywhere and got to preach the Gospel to 1500 men, who were all out on the yard at the same time, doing various activities. People were being healed in two different sections in healing lines. There were about 30 healings in two different waves. People were still being "whacked" by God for days afterwards. An event on the yard had not been scheduled in 16 years. Because it was so successful, inmates on other yards wanted it there, so they are going to do another concert on another yard. Even the officers were touched. The brother who put this together is Ray Spencer, former drummer for the Guess Who, has been attacked with cancer; readers are requested to pray for him. Those around him are believing for his healing. He is really fathering a lot of the men out on the yards.

"A SHIFT in SEASONS"

-extracts by Jim Goll.

As we have now turned the corner into the Hebrew Year 5767, the
following are some of the things the Holy Spirit has been
emphasizing to me for the coming year and beyond.

Primary Verses--Romans 13:11-14:

"Do this, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to
awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when
we believed. The night is almost gone, and the day is near.
Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the
armor of light. Let us behave properly as in the day, not in
carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and
sensuality, not in strife and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus
Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts."

According to these verses--It Is Time to:

Awaken from sleep.

Lay aside the deeds of darkness.

Put on the armor of light, especially the sword of the Spirit.

Behave properly by walking in proper boundaries.

Be watchful for strife and jealousy.

Put on the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Make no provision for the flesh.

It's Time for New Forms of the "Church"

We are in the midst of a re-definition of the church. The terms local
church and para-church are being replaced by broader and clearer
understandings. Terms such as congregational and church in the
city; local and trans-local; nuclear and extended; the church that
is gathering and the church that is scattered more clearly define
the "called out ones."

But watch for fresh movements emphasizing new forms of the
ecclesia, such as the interactive web-based fellowships versus
traditional church. It is time for the mini and maxi church movement
to advance--house fellowships springing across the land and on
the contrast, stadium Christianity taking shape.

It's Time for the Big Shift!

"An enormous shift is upon us! What was impossible in the last
season will be possible in the now season if you make the shift!"

It is a shift from the "church" mindset as the primary focus to
"Kingdom of God" thinking and acting. In our ministry the now
words are "Shifts Happen" and "Change is Good!" Do you fear
change or embrace it? Are you preparing for the next level? Are
you in Kingdom alignment?

A major change is upon us as the Holy Spirit emphasizes the
church in the workplace. It is time for the "Transfer of Wealth" for
the sake of the Gospel of the Kingdom to the nations. Compassion
ministry will be greatly emphasized, and healing the sick will
become almost common place. Paradigms are shifting!

It's Time for the War Horse to Be Released

The global prayer movement will re-embrace spiritual warfare as a
warrior anointing is mingled with the bridal revelation of the past
few years. Job 39:19-25 gives us a description of the war horse of
the Lord. These characteristics include:

Strength and Might.

Submits to Management of a Child.

Charges with Undaunted Courage.

Majestic and Beautiful.

It is time for the War Horse of the Lord to march forth. This will
manifest both in "wars" in the natural reaching new heights, and
the war between the soul and spirit competing in the body of Christ.
The good news though, is that the powers of darkness will take a
heavy hit as humble intercessors are ignited with the gift of faith
to war in the spirit realm.

It's Time for the Rebirth of The Call

Radical, worship and prayer movements that join the generations
shall come marching out of the gate this year. In the year 2000,
over 400,000 people descended upon Washington D.C. to seek
the Lord for the future of our nation.

"It is time for a grass roots prayer movement, both in houses of
prayer and in on-site intercession, to come forth with fresh vigor."

It's Time for Lukes and Lydias

There is a grace upon "work." "Work the dream" and "the dream
will work" are phrases that shout within me.... Creativity is on the
rise. New inventions are available in the spirit realm waiting for
people to call them forth.

It's Time for Market Place Intercession

As a result of the Josephs' Company authentically being released,
the powers of darkness are trembling. The enemy senses a threat
to its dark kingdom, and is scrambling with fervency and fear to
squelch the voice, strategy, and applications of these cross
carrying, faith-filled entrepreneurs.

It's Time for the Mordecai and Esther Anointing to Increase

While the eyes of the nations will be on Iran and North Korea, and
rightly so, keep your eye on Syria. The demonic antichrist and
anti-Semitic spirits are poised to strike with a vengeance. We
must intercede for the protection of Israel, particularly on the
northern borders with Syria, and along the Golan Heights.

This is a portion of what I sense the Lord is emphasizing for the
New Hebraic year 5767 and beyond. Perhaps these will help you,
to bless what the Father is doing, and help you to start the year off right!

Barna's Top 12 for 2006

Barna Research has released their most significant findings of the past year. The following dozen were selected:

  1. Only 15 percent of those who regularly attend a Christian church ranked their relationship with God as the top priority in their life. On average, pastors believe that 70 percent of the adults in their congregation consider their relationship with God to be their highest priority in life.
  2. Three out of every four teenagers have engaged in at least one type of psychic/witchcraft-related activity with fewer than three out of every ten churched teenagers receiving any teaching from their church about elements of the supernatural.
  3. Just 21 percent of adults consider themselves to be holy; by their own admission, large numbers have no idea what "holiness" means and only one out of every three (35%) believe that God expects people to become holy.
  4. The growing movement of Christian Revolutionaries in the U.S. distinguished themselves from an already-select group of people — born-again Christians — through their deeds, beliefs and self-views. Revolutionaries demonstrated higher levels of community service, financial contributions, daily Bible study, personal quiet times each day, family Bible studies, daily worship experiences, engagement in spiritual mentoring and evangelistic efforts.
  5. Involvement in a house church is rapidly growing and four out of every five house church participants maintain some connection to a conventional church.
  6. The only measure of spiritual health used by at least half of all pastors was the extent of volunteer activity or ministry involvement.
  7. Tracking of young people showed that most of them had disengaged from organized religion during their twenties.
  8. A comparison of people's faith before and after the September 11 terrorist attack showed that after five years, none of the 19 faith measure studies had undergone statistically significant change.
  9. Seven out of ten parents claim they are effective at developing the spiritual maturity of their children, but the survey among 8-to-12-year-olds discovered that only one-third of them say a church has made "a positive difference" in their life; one-third contend that prayer is very important in their life; most of them would rather be popular than to do what is morally right.
  10. Just one out of every six people believe that spiritual maturity is meant to be developed within the context of a local church or within the context of a community of faith.
  11. Five of the highest-profile Christian leaders — Rick Warren, Joel Osteen, James Dobson, Tim LaHaye and T.D. Jakes — were unknown to a majority of the population.
  12. The proportion of adults who are born-again has risen dramatically in the past quarter century, from 31 percent to 45 percent.

Prayer Alert‐Nigeria

40‐DAY PRAYER EFFORT: targets ongoing religious tension, Nigerian Christian persecution

WIN EMERGENCY PRAYER ALERT (Courtesy of www.win1040.com)
Christians worldwide are encouraged to ring in the new year by taking part in a 40‐day prayer initiative for Nigeria that will focus on ongoing tension between Muslims and Christians and the persecution that many Christian Believers face in Northern Nigeria.

A call to 40 days prayer and fasting for the kingdom of God in Nigeria is set from Monday, January 1 to Friday, February 9, 2007. After the Global Day of Prayer (GDOP) on June 4, 2006, the National Steering Committee felt led to call the nation of Nigeria to a 40‐day fast, dubbed “40 Days to Move Nigeria Forward in the Right Direction.” This fast focused on praying for the political process and election 2007.

Towards the end of that fast, the National Steering Committee sensed that the Heavenly Father’s burden is not primarily the politics of Nigeria, but the Church in Nigeria and the Kingdom of God in Nigeria.

“It was also impressed on our hearts that another season of prayer be dedicated, primarily to pray for the church in Nigeria,” a GDOP National Steering Committee official said.

“The main focus is repentance and to cry for revival—that the church in Nigeria will be restored to the right relationship with her Master.”

Intercession is especially critical for Nigeria because there is concern over rising religious tensions in Nigeria, where scores of Christians were killed in 2006 following protests against Christians over the publication in mainly European media of the prophet Muhammad.

Christians comprise roughly 40 percent of Nigeria’s nearly 129 million people, according to estimates.

Meanwhile, two Anglican priests in Nigeria were nearly beaten to death in May 2006 by crowds of traditional animists, who destroyed their properties for “making gods angry” with church services.

Chris Adetula and Oladejo Luji “nearly lost their lives” when animists attacked their churches in the Nigerian town of Ode‐Aye town in the southwestern state of Ondo, caused extensive damage, news reports said.

The Anglican bishop of the Diocese on the Coast of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Joshua Ogunele, told Compass Direct that the troubles began in February and continued in March.

He said that followers of native religions attacked the St. Christopher Anglican Church along with othernearby churches and stressed that although the priests were almost lynched by an angry mob, they were no longer in comas, Compass reported.

During their annual Okute festival, animists had imposed a 21‐day ban on Christian worship, especially use of drums.

Prayer Points

Please pray for:

Day 1, January 1
God to mightily pour out a spirit of repentance and godly sorrow upon the Church in Nigeria, beginning with her leaders, which will result in genuine, rending of hearts and returning to Him (Joel 1:13, 2:12, 13; 2 Cor. 7:10).

Day 2, January 2
Your personal walk with God and confess and turn away from personal sins. Be quick to respond to any acts of restitution that the Holy Spirit may lead you into (Prov. 28:13; Rev.2:5).

Day 3, January 3
Confess prevailing sins in your immediate and extended family to God and urge your family to turn away from them. Do the same for those sins prevailing in your local assembly, denomination or ministry/fellowship (Dan. 9:3‐19). Pray for conviction and restoration of backsliders in the Nigerian Church (Joel 1:5).

Day 4, January 4
Confess before God the sins prevailing in the Church in Nigeria such as the lack of genuine love for God and for neighbors, resulting in myriads of other wrongs (Matt. 22:36‐39; Rev 2:5). Confess before God that the Church in Nigeria have largely failed to function as salt and light in the society. Plead for mercy and pray that this situation will change (Matt.5:13‐16; Luke 3:8; James 4:8‐10).

Day 5, January 5
Pray Malachi 3:2‐4 for the Nigerian Church.

Day 6, January 6
Plead for mercy upon leaders of the Nigerian Church and for Christians involved in every area of national life, including but not limited to politics, education, aviation, transport, armed forces, healthcare, finance and banking, oil industry, manufacturing, commerce, media sports and entertainment (2 Chro. 7:14; Luke 3:8).

Day 7, January 7
Pull down all walls erected by men by which they divide the Body of Christ in Nigeria. Pray for
reconciliation between various sections of the Body that have been divided by many issues. For
instance, the Orthodox say the teachings and emphases of the Pentecostal are wrong and the
Pentecostals say the Orthodox are cold and dead.

Day 8, January 8
Pray against the prevailing situation of empire building in the Church in Nigeria. Pray that Nigerian Christians will henceforth release themselves to build the Kingdom of God. Pray that God will have mercy upon the Nigerian church and spare her (Joel 2:17).

Day 9, January 9
Pray for all leaders in the Body of Christ in Nigeria, including archbishops, bishops, general overseers, apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. Pray that they will fulfil their God‐given role as spelled out in Ephesians 4:10‐16, resulting in all round growth in the Church.

Day 10, January 10
Harmony among Christian leaders, which is essential to growth of the Kingdom in Nigeria. Plead with the Father to foster such harmony (Ps. 133). Pray specifically for unity and cooperation among denominational heads, mission leaders and leaders in the prayer movement.

Day 11, January 11
Ask the Father to envision and enable leaders of the church in Nigeria to raise spiritual men (1 Cor.2:15), whose singular quest in life will be to live like Jesus did (John 5:19, 30).

Day 12, January 12
Pray for emerging leaders that they will be protected from some the errors that have befallen some older leaders in the Nigerian Church. Pray Malachi 3:2‐4 for the Nigerian Church.

Day 13, January 13
Pray for Christians who are leaders in the market place that they will function as salt and light and become instruments in the Father’s hand for transformation.

Day 14, January 14
Up root, destroy and throw down all values, doctrines, practices, etc, in the Church in Nigeria that the Father did not plant (Jer. 1:10; Matt.15:13). Pray Malachi 3:2‐4 for the Church in Nigeria.

Day 15, January 15
Pray for the planting and establishment of Kingdom values, doctrines and practices within the Church in Nigeria (Jer. 1:10; Matt.6:10). Pray Malachi 3:2‐4 for the Church in Nigeria.

Day 16, January 16
Pray for restoration of balanced emphasis on character and charisma‐fruit of the Holy Spirit and His gifts‐in the church in Nigeria (Isa. 42:22; Hab 3:1, 2). Pray Malachi 3:2‐4 for the church in Nigeria.

Day 17, January 17
Pray that the average Nigerian Christian will hunger above all things to bear the image of the Lord Jesus Christ and manifest this in daily life (Romans 8:29). Pray Malachi 3:2‐4 for the church in Nigeria.

Day 18, January 18
Pray for the restoration in the hearts individual Nigerian Christians of the expectation of the Lord’s imminent return (2 Tim 4:8). Pray that each believer will strive to be ready for His return (Luke 12:35).

Day 19, January 19
Pray for the full restoration of biblical discipleship in the Nigerian Church. Pray for the restoration of passion for souls in the heart of the average Nigerian Christian.

Day 20, January 20
There have been pockets of divine visitations in Nigeria, now we need rivers of outpourings. Cry to God for divine visitation upon the nation resulting in genuine national revival, which will effect
transformations at the individual, family, community and national levels (Isa. 44:3; Ps. 85:6, 7).

Day 21, January 21
Nigeria is a nation with a missionary calling. Pray that God will reveal this to all leaders in the Body and cause them to work together to fulfil this divine mandate.

Day 22, January 22.
Ask God to cause His Church in Nigeria to arise and fulfil her missionary destiny. Pray for the successful takeoff and fulfilment of Vision 50:15 (a bold step by the Nigerian Church to let God thrust out from among her numbers 50,000 labourers in the next 15 years to Middle East and North Africa).

Day 23, January 23
Pray that God will raise more credible voices in the nation, people who stand in God’s council, national prophets, who will declare with authority, wisdom and clarity the will of God for the nation, standing against corruption in church and society (Jer. 23:18, 22).

Day 24, January 24
God raises nations at different times for His kingdom purposes. Pray that God will bring in such changes in every sector of the Nigerian nation as are necessary to enable her fulfil divine purpose (Acts 17:26).

Day 25, January 25.
Pray that God will enable the establishment of more 24/7 (Twenty‐four hour, seven days a week, all year round) prayer altars around the country.

Day 36, February 5
Some groups are attempting to legalize abortion in Nigeria. Pray Job 5:12 for these groups and their efforts. Pray that Christians in the nation will boldly rise against this and that both the Presidency and the Federal Legislative Houses will reject this attempt.

Day 37, February 6
Pray that only those that God has ordained to lead Nigeria will emerge at all levels through the 2007 general elections.

Day 38, February 7
Pray for Nigerian Christians in Diaspora that God will make them salt and light wherever He has planted them and enable them to fulfil the divine destiny of Nigeria.

Day 39 February 8
Spend today calling down the blessings and favor of God upon Nigeria. Ask God to bless Nigeria.

Day 40, February 9
Praise God for the grace He has given you and other Christian Believers to fast and pray through this prayer season. Thank Him for answers to your petitions; He causes it to happen in and through Nigeria as it is in heaven.
