His unscathed Bible was confirmation that God was "looking out" for him.
(Amityville, NY)—Richard Simmons, a graphics designer and ordained deacon, was driving to his job on March 23 when his Kia Sedona began to drive sluggishly. Moments later an unidentified woman pulled up next to him, wildly gesticulating and yelling that his car was on fire. She then drove off. Her warning saved his life. Moments later, after he vacated his car, it went up in flames.
"Thanks to her," he said of the strange woman, "I'm going to be seeing my kids today."
According to a Newsday report, the only item that didn't get burned was a Bible. Amazingly, it didn't even suffer water damage.
"That was just confirmation," said Simmons, "that God was looking out for me today."
