"I believe it is the most basic duty of Government to guard the innocent."
News Staff/AH (May 5th, 2007)
President Bush, this week, sent letters to both the Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, reminding them of his stance on abortion and stating that he would veto any legislation crossing his desk which would endanger innocent human life.
An excerpt from the letter reads:
"I believe it is the most basic duty of Government to guard the innocent. With that in mind, I will veto any legislation that weakens current Federal policies and laws on abortion, or that encourages the destruction of human life at any stage."
