Day 34 of "40 Days for 40 Years" 6 Days to Go

by John Mark Pool

John Mark Pool A Prophetic Word to the Nation given to me by the Lord this day, June 28, 2007

The Spirit of the Lord says, "Apostles and Prophets will now be the witnesses that Bring Sight to the Blind!" YES, Spiritually and Physically! You will now begin to see a mighty increase of physical eyes miraculously healed to seal the voice of God saying, "Open My Nation's Eyes Spiritually!"

SPIRITUAL CATARACTS ARE COMING OFF GOD'S CHURCH! NOW!

America, get ready for your eyes to observe some of the most amazing signs, wonders, and miracles that have ever been seen! God is opening our eyes to see that there are more of us than of them! Amen!

The Apostles and Prophets are joining properly now in this new season of the Shift, that has a new mandate: Open their Eyes!

JESUS DECLARED IT FIRST BY GOD'S ORDERS!

JESUS was the perfect apostle and prophet here:

"And the book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. And He opened the book, and found the place where it was written, "THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME, BECAUSE HE ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR. HE HAS SENT ME TO PROCLAIM RELEASE TO THE CAPTIVES, AND RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND, TO SET FREE THOSE WHO ARE OPPRESSED, TO PROCLAIM THE FAVORABLE YEAR OF THE LORD." (Luke 4:17-19 NASB, Emphasis added).

"To open their eyes so they may turn from darkness to light, and from the power of satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God's people, who are set apart by faith in Me.'" (Acts 26:18 NLT, Emphasis added).

JULY 7, 2007-THE CALL!

THE EYES OF HIS CHURCH AND THIS NATION WILL BE OPENED BY GOD THROUGH OUR OBEDIENCE TO HIS "CALL."

THE CALL IS A SYMBOLIC PLACING OF MUD BY JESUS IN OUR SPIRITUALLY BLINDED EYES (John 9:6-7):

"Then He spit on the ground, made mud with the saliva, and smoothed the mud over the blind man's eyes. He told him, 'Go and wash in the pool of Siloam" (Siloam means Sent). So the man went and washed, and came back seeing!'"

ONCE THIS HAS HAPPENED, MANY WILL BEGIN TO SEE IN THE SPIRIT CLEAR DIRECTIONS TO BE HIS MESSENGERS TO OPEN THE BLIND EYES AND SET THE CAPTIVE FREE!

IN THE EYES OF THIS NATION, NO ONE CAN DENY THAT JESUS IS LIFTED UP BEFORE THE EYES OF AMERICA AND THE WORLD! THIS IS HISTORY JUST AS MUCH AS A SAUL-TO-PAUL CONVERSION! THIS IS AN ENTIRE NEW CHAPTER IN CHRISTIANITY! THIS IS NO SMALL MEETING, NO MATTER WHERE YOU MAY BE! YOU MUST, YOU LITERALLY MUST STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND UNITE WITH THE CALL OF GOD TO REMOVE THE BLINDNESS OF THIS NATION! THIS IS A MANDATE FROM GOD, NOT A PLAN OF MAN! IT IS SPIRITUAL EYE SURGERY TO REMOVE THE CATARACTS OF HIS CHURCH TO THEN OPEN THE EYES OF THIS NATION FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS AT HAND!

THE CALL IS OPENING THE EYES OF THIS NATION!

WASH IN THE POOL OF SILOAM-WHICH MEANS SENT!
"Apostello" is the Greek for Apostle. This word, when translated, means "set apart and sent one." This is the time when our nation has shifted into a new move that will be led by God's Apostles!

Jesus is now speaking to us, as the Church and the fivefold ministry leadership, to allow Him to do something we may not like--just as He performed a miracle by rubbing mud made from His saliva on the eyes of a man who was born blind in John 9:1-12. Note that Jesus' disciples asked what sin had been committed for him to be born this way. Jesus answered (in verses 3-4):

"It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents; but it was in order that the works of God might be displayed in him. We must work the works of Him who sent Me, as long as it is day; night is coming, when no man can work."

CHURCH, HERE'S MUD IN YOUR EYE!

The Apostles will now lead us as a blind nation to go to the waters of Siloam to wash away the blindness of self-indulgence to receive the new eyesight of THE SENT ONES! Wash the apostles' mud out of your blind eyes and receive your sight!

SHIFT HAPPENED-FROM US TO THEM! Apostles and Prophets: Be reassured from Jesus as He sent this to John the Baptist, so He is now saying this to us:

"And Jesus answered and said to them, 'Go and report to John what you hear and see: the BLIND RECEIVE SIGHT and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the POOR HAVE THE GOSPEL PREACHED TO THEM. And blessed is he who does not take offense at Me.'" (Matthew 11:4-6 NASB, Emphasis added).

America is about to have Eye Surgery from the Chief Surgeon at the skilled hand of the Holy Spirit!

Without the Lord drawing a person, no one can come to Jesus. We were ordained in His master plan before the foundations of the world. Our will is the only part that can stop our accepting God's assignment. That is called "spiritual blindness."

"You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you" (John 15:16).

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them" (Ephesians 2:8-10 KJV, Emphasis added).

Paul is making his declaration of what God has done to make him a new spokesman for Jesus Christ, the one whom the Jews had crucified—even assisted largely by Paul's (then Saul) own handiwork. No doubt Paul could constantly reflect upon his phenomenal conversion that caused his eyes to be clearly opened and thus transformed his life 180 degrees of being a soldier of the enemy into a soldier for the Cross of Calvary! He had to first have his eyes opened in order to be a messenger that would open the blind eyes of both Jews and Gentiles everywhere.

"And now, behold, bound by the Spirit, I am on my way to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there, except that the Holy Spirit solemnly testifies to me in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions await me. "But I do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself, in order that I may finish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify solemnly of the Gospel of the grace of God" (Acts 20:22-24, NASB, Emphasis added).

SPIRITUAL CATARACTS ARE BEING REMOVED!

God is about to perform Holy Spirit Laser surgery to remove America's Spiritual Glaucoma! We are about to have eyes opened clearly for His Kingdom!

Saul had to be apprehended and then literally led by the Lord to where he would miraculously have his physical and spiritual eyes opened to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His eyes were dramatically opened, simultaneously with the irreproachable witness of Ananias, and Saul was undeniably converted by the plans of the Lord. Paul's greatest decision, once his eyes were opened, was to become the messenger of Jesus to all the known world of his day. We must now have our eyes cleansed to do the same! Being led of the Spirit will again become an Apostolic way to evangelize the world.

Being led by the Holy Spirit is ESSENTIAL for Apostles! From my days of youth in the fundamentally Spirit-filled Church, we had a term called "led by the Holy Spirit." We hear and witness many contradictions to returning to the Apostle's way of life compared to the directions many teach us today! This Gospel cost our pioneers of this faith. How much will it cost us? Everything! How long do we plan on contending for the Gospel? Forever! My readers and fellow ministry associates tell of hundreds of testimonies of miracles that broke out, as they took a great leap of faith and did what they discerned the Holy Spirit was speaking to them rather than the plans that were already in motion. Oh, plans are very important, but we must remember the ultimate Planner and Calendar Creator is the Living God acting in us through the power of the Holy Spirit. If we obey, it could be the move that makes the difference in saving a city or an entire nation!

Observe the anointed words of His prophets, aligned in this New Shift, in order to be correctly joined with the company of apostles which gives prophetic eye-opening messages from God:

"Then Elisha prayed and said, "O LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see." And the LORD opened the servant's eyes, and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha" (2 Kings 6:17 NASB, Emphasis added).

THE PROPHETS ARE NOW DECREEING THE WORD OF GOD TO OPEN THE EYES AND TO ALLOW THE CHURCH TO AGAIN SEE THAT WE MUST BE LED BY HIS SPIRIT!

Zechariah 4:6 says, "'Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' says the LORD of hosts."

The plans of man are gone--flesh and blood will not reveal God's Church to further His Kingdom today!

"And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but My Father which is in Heaven" (Matthew 16:17).

King David prayed unto the Lord in Psalm 119:18--
"Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in Your law."

The Spirit guides a Christian that hears and obeys, even in desperate danger. The Spirit was given to Paul at his conversion, called him to be a missionary, and guided him at various times on his journeys (Acts 6:1-6; 13:1-4; 16:6-10.) The Spirit led Paul to leave the churches he had planted for the last time and go to Jerusalem. The Spirit prepared Paul to suffer there for his faith. The Holy Spirit always guides Christians to bear witness concerning Christ. In some cases, He guides us to do this even though we will be persecuted. Remaining alive is not the Christian's goal. For us, it is accomplishing the Spirit's mission.

Help us, dear Lord, to return to the desperate passion as Paul lived by example, how we must first have our eyes opened in order to be God's messenger by the leading of the Holy Spirit to Open Their Eyes!

Life-changing Quotes

Day 33 of "40 Days for 40 Years" 7 Days to Go

SOURCE: www.sermonindex.net

(Rev. Thomas Brooks)"There is a great deal of worldliness, and earthly-mindedness,
and covetousness among the professing Christians of our day.
They are worshipers of the golden calf! O sirs! the world is
all shadow and vanity. The world is like Jonah's gourd--a man
may sit under its shadow for a time, but it soon decays and dies.

The main reason why many professors dote upon the world,
is because they are not acquainted with a greater glory. If
the heart of man is not filled with God--it will be filled with
the world, the flesh and the devil." - Thomas Brooks, 1670.

"By affliction, the Lord teaches His people to sit loose
from this world, and to be prepared for eternity.
By affliction, God shows His people the vanity, vexation,
emptiness, weakness, and nothingness of all created
things; and the choiceness, preciousness and sweetness
of communion with Himself." - Unknown.

"The average Christian is so cold and contented with his wretched
condition that there is no vacuum of desire into which the blessed
Spirit can rush in satisfying fullness." - A.W. Tozer

"The spiritual man habitually makes eternity-judgments instead of
time-judgments. By faith he rises above the tug of earth and the
flow of time and learns to think and feel as one who has already
left the world and gone to join the innumerable company of angels
and the general assembly and Church of the First-born which are
written in heaven. Such a man would rather be useful than famous
and would rather serve than be served. And all this must be by the
operation of the Holy Spirit within him. No man can become
spiritual by himself. Only the free Spirit can make a man spiritual."
- A.W.Tozer

“Preach the word purely and fully; mix nothing with it that does not
belong to it... The gospel is not suited, and cannot be made to
suit, the corrupt dispositions and inclinations of the carnal mind;
but the faithful preaching of it is calculated to oppose and to
overcome those evil prejudices so far as to excite men to attend
to the doctrines it contains and the blessings it proposes. It is
your duty, not to bring down the gospel into a conformity with
them, but to change them into a conformity with the gospel.”
- Robert Hall.

"Oh the secret of the Lord is with them that fear Him!!!"
-Duncan Campbell

"We stink more of the world than we stink of of sack cloth and
ashes. Alot of contemporary churches today would feel more at
home in a movie house rather than in a house of prayer, more
afraid of holy living than of sinning, know more about money than
magnifying Christ in our bodies. It is so compromised that
holiness and living a sin-free life is heresy to the modern church.
The modern church is, quite simply, just the world with a Christian
T-shirt on!" - N. Cruz.

"Preaching is God's great institution for the planting and maturing
of spiritual life. When properly executed, its benefits are untold.
When wrongly executed, no evil can exceed its damaging results."
-E.M. Bounds

"Despite the atrociousness of it, Satan really does have "little
cause to fear most preaching." Most preaching in the modern
church is completely devoid of unction. Pastors are too busy
playing golf or racquetball to bother spending time on their knees.
No wonder some pastors I've heard can more readily quote Dr.
Laura then bible passages pertaining to prayer. It's disastrous.
Satan need not fear under those conditions." - A. Reavis

"The Lord has shown me that I can do anything, but that He has
said, "apart from Me ye can do nothing." So it comes to this, that
everything I have done, and can still do apart from Him is nothing!"
- 'The Normal Christian Life' - Watchman Nee

"How do we worship our God wholeheartedly? To answer the
question we must respond to the command... "If you love me, you
will obey what I command." John 14:15. True Love is complete
obedience ... If you love Jesus, you will obey what He commands.
This is true love and true worship." - Unknown

"A man may study because his brain is hungry for knowledge,
even Bible knowledge. But he prays because his soul is hungry
for God." - Leonard Ravenhill

"Resolved: that all men should live for the glory of God. Resolved
second: That whether others do or not, I will." - Jonathan Edwards

"Let us not glide through this world and then slip quietly into
heaven, without having blown the trumpet loud and long for our
Redeemer, Jesus Christ. Let us see to it that the devil will hold a
thanksgiving service in hell, when he gets the news of our
departure from the field of battle." - C. T. Studd

"Make sure you are praising God on the right side of the sea."
- A former pastor, Speaking of the Israelites.

"May the Lamb who was slain, receive the reward for His suffering!"
- Cry of Moravian Missionaries

"I believed also that nobody is more a Christian. I had read in the
Bible that there will be in the last time the great apostasy, that
people will leave the faith and I believed that I lived now this time.
But I said to myself if Christianity is dead, I will sit at its tomb and
will weep until it arises again, just as Mary Magdalene sat at the
tomb of Jesus and wept until Jesus showed Himself. Then when I
came out of prison I saw Christianity is not dead. The number of
practicing Christians in Rumania according to the figures given by
the Communists themselves in 20 years of Communist
dictatorship has grown 300 percent." - Richard Wurmbrand.

"There is nothing little in God." - C.H. Spurgeon

"I love to live on the brink of eternity." - David Brainerd

"Oh! one hour with God infinitely exceeds all the pleasures and
delights of this lower world." - David Brainerd

Diary of A Last and Final Flight Home

(Globe Photo / Sean Dougherty)

The following article came through www.prayercentral.net . Wayne Dillard is the creator of this website that has special/focused prayer for Baghdad and the war in Iraq. He didn't say who wrote this diary, that is why the author is not named here.

Feelings run high for and against the war in Iraq, but one thing we cannot deny is that our troops fighting this war are courageous men and women who deserve our prayers. How sad it is that each death is merely another statistic in the news. Each life is precious. Each life gave his/her all for my freedom, even to the point of death! Even though I don't know them, I can call them my friend because they laid down their lives for me... and you!

For His Glory,
Joe

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

February 17, 2007,
0350
I was at curbside at 24th and M, Washington DC . 16 Degrees with a light breeze. Going home after my second week of freezing temps to my warm home in SoCal. Take a walk on the beach, ride a horse, climb a mountain and get back to living. I'm tired of the cold.

0425
paying the taxi fare at Dulles in front of the United Airlines counter, still cold.

0450
engaged the self-serve ticker machine and it delivers my ticket, baggage tag and boarding pass. Hmmm, that Marine over there is all dressed up in his dress blues a bit early this morning... "Good Morning Captain, you're looking sharp." He says, "Thank you, sir."

Pass Security and to my gate for a decaf coffee. A quick check of the flight status monitor and UA Flt 211 is on time. I'm up front, so how bad can that be? Hmmm, there's that same Marine. He must be heading to Pendleton to see his lady at LAX for the long weekend, all dressed up like that. Or maybe not. I dunno.

The speaker system announces "Attention in the boarding area, we'll begin boarding in 10 minutes, we have some additional duties to attend to this morning, but we'll have you out of here on time."

The Marine Captain has now been joined by five others. BINGO, I get it, he's not visiting his lady, he's an official escort. I remember doing that once, CACO duty. I still remember the names of the victim and family, The Bruno Family in Mojave - all of them, wow, that was 24 years ago.

On board, 0600:
"Good morning folks, this is the Captain. This morning we've been attending to some additional duties, and I apologize for being 10 minutes late for push back, but I believe we'll be early into LAX. This morning it is my sad pleasure to announce that 1st LT Jared Landaker, USMC will be flying with us to his Big Bear home in Southern California. Jared lost his life over the skies of Iraq earlier this month, and today we have the honor of returning him home along with his mother, father and brother . Please join me in making the journey comfortable for the Landaker family and their uniformed escort. Now sit back and enjoy your ride. We're not expecting any turbulence until we reach the Rocky Mountain area, but we'll do what we can to ensure a smooth ride. For those interested, you can listen in to our progress on Channel 9."

Click Channel 9: "Good morning UA 211. You are cleared to taxi, takeoff and cleared to LAX as filed."

4 hours and 35 minutes later over Big Bear Mtn, the AB320 makes a left roll, a steep bank and then one to the right-Nice touch. Nice tribute. Five minutes out from landing, the Captain comes on the speaker : "Ladies and Gentlemen, after landing I'm leaving the fasten seatbelt sign on, and I ask everyone to please yield to the Landaker family. Please remain seated until all members of the family have departed the aircraft. Thank you for your patience. We are 20 minutes early."

On roll out, I notice red lights, emergency vehicles approaching. We're being escorted directly to our gate, no waiting, not even a pause. Out the left window, a dozen Marines in full dress blues. A true class act by everyone, down to a person. Way to go United Airlines for doing things RIGHT, Air Traffic Control for getting the message, and to all security personnel for your display of brotherhood.
When the family departed the aircraft everyone sat silent, then I heard a lady say,"God Bless you and your family, and thank you." Then a somber round of applause. The Captain read a prepared note from Mrs. Landaker to the effect, "Thank you all for your patience and heartfelt concern for us and our son. We sincerely appreciate the sentiment. It's good to have Jared home."

After departing the aircraft I found myself along with 30 others from our flight looking out the lobby window back at the plane. Not a dry eye. It was one of the most emotional moments I've ever experienced. We all stood there silently, and watched as Jared was taken by his honor guard to an awaiting hearse. Then the motorcade slowly made it's way off the ramp.

I realized I had finally seen the silent majority. It is deep within us all. Black, Brown, White, Yellow, Red, we're all children, parents, brothers, sisters, etc - we are an American family.

Official Report : February 7, 2007, Anbar Province, Iraq .. 1st LT Jared Landaker United States Marine Corps, from Big Bear California, gave his live in service to his country. Fatally wounded when his CH-46 helicopter was shot down by enemy fire, Jared and his crew all perished. His life was the ultimate sacrifice of a grateful military family and nation.

His death occurred at the same time as Anna Nicole Smith, a drug-using person with a 7th grade education, of no pedigree, who dominated our news for two weeks while Jared became a number on CNN.
And most unfortunately, Jared's death underscores a fact that we are a military at war, not a nation at war.
It has been said that Marines are at war. America is at the mall.

1st LT Landaker, a man I came to know in the skies over America on 17 February 2007, from me to you, aviator to aviator, I am unbelievably humbled. It was my high honor to share your last flight. God bless you.

and AMEN!

200 million Christians in 60 countries subject to persecution

By Dan Wooding
Founder of ASSIST Ministries

LONDON, UK (ANS) -- The British Secret Service, MI6, has published an alarming report in the Sunday Express magazine revealing that some 200 million Christians in 60 countries around the world are at risk of suffering persecution, according to a report carried by the Catholic News Agency (CNA) -- www.catholicnewsagency.com.

The report reveals that in the Sudan, for example, "thousands of Christians have been massacred and the fundamentalist government has done little to protect them." In Iraq, "the situation is grave: Christians do not have their own militia to defend them, and Sunni and Shiite factions accuse them of collaborating with the American 'crusaders' and among the hundreds of victims of kidnappings this year there are a growing number of Christians."

"The study also reveals that during the last year, at least seventy Christians were killed in Pakistan. In Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, Christians who belong to the Russian Orthodox Church are often looked down upon: in these three republics of the former Soviet Union, Muslim preachers, 'under the influence of Al Qaeda,' present Christians as followers of a religion closely associated with the despised Western colonialism and they call for their expulsion," the report states.

The CAN story concluded by saying, "North Korea, China, Ethiopia, Nigeria and Uganda are other countries where Christians are persecuted. North Korea has sent some 50 thousand Christians to concentration camps, while in China some 40 thousand have suffered the same fate. The report also notes the increasing difficulties facing Palestinian Christians due to the progressive radicalization of the Islamic masses in the Middle East."

Monolith Dedication in Red Bluff Last Saturday

As some of you may remember, for over a year now we have been praying concerning the purchase of a piece of land by the group called Pangea World Community in Red Bluff (see URGENT PRAYER REQUEST and Prayer Update for previous articles from 2006). This group of people, who follow the teachings of a man named "Silo" from Argentina, have completed the purchase of the land last year. They had a dedication ceremony last weekend once the Monolith Sculpture was finished and erected on the property. This sculpture is the first of 4 structures to be built on the property before it's completion. The local newspaper (Red Bluff Daily News) wrote an article last week about the "park", click here to read it.

Although it may seem as though our prayers have not been answered, we believe God has something "up His sleeve". Since people from all over the world will be coming to visit this site, we, and some of the churches in the community, believe God has allowed this organization to be here in Red Bluff so that Christians in the area can give the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those who come from all over to visit.

A Christian lady we know had the opportunity to meet 2 people who came from Los Angeles for the dedication ceremony at the Monolith. During the course of the conversation she discovered they were of Jewish descent but not practicing the Jewish faith. One of them was curious to know how the community was receiving the "park". After a few pointed questions to him, the lady was able to declare the whole Bible as the infallible Word of God, gave him the truth of salvation, and encouraged him that she believed his eyes would soon be opened.

Please Join Us in Prayer

We are grateful to everyone who stood with us in prayer about this "Universal Human Nation". May we ask you to stand with us some more? Will you join us in prayer again and ask that the glory of the One True God would have His way with "Red Bluff Park" -- that many would come to confess Jesus as Lord of their lives and testify that He is THE Way, THE Truth, and THE Life! Pray that we, as a family, would see clearly our part in this situation, and that the Church would obey the Holy Spirit to see this commission fulfilled.

For more information on this "park" and Silo's message go to www.redbluffpark.org and follow the links.

Those Who Make a Covenant with God

Day 31 of "40 Days for 40 Years" 9 Days to Go

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Covenant- Keeping God

Throughout the history of God's dealings with man, He has revealed Himself as a covenant-making God. The Almighty covenanted with Noah, Abraham, Moses and David; He renewed His Abrahamic covenant in His call to Isaac and Jacob. Each covenant initiated a new wave of redemptive power into the world and forever impacted the human condition.

The word covenant means "to fetter" or chain together. It was the highest form of commitment that two individuals could share. Any of several rituals were employed to express the covenant partners' unity: A sword might be passed, signifying that the two would be united against the enemy as one. They might pass a sandal between themselves, which symbolized they would travel any distance to be at one another's side. Or, they might cut an animal in two and pass between its halves. As the two halves, though separated, were still one animal, so the two covenant partners would become as one individual.

When the Lord initiated His covenant with a man, He did so as an extension of His eternal purpose; the man was a component in a series of divine initiatives. Contained within the Lord's covenant was His divine intervention, His supernatural wisdom and strategies, and His provisions.

Thus, if we look at the Lord's call to Noah, we see that it was not the ark, but the covenant of God, that preserved Noah and his family during worldwide judgment. Noah was a component, a factor in a series of divine initiatives, which accomplished the Lord's predetermined plans. God established the covenant, designed the ark and brought the animals. The Lord even shut the door after Noah entered the ark.

When the Lord established His covenant with Abraham, twice a flaming torch passed through the halves of the animals Abraham offered in sacrifice. The two passes signified that God would keep His part of the covenant and He would keep Abraham's part of the covenant as well! Today, a restored Israel testifies to God's faithfulness in His covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. And it is God's covenant with Abraham, not merely the Jewish military, which preserves Israel in our times.

The agreement the Lord cut with His covenant partner upheld not only His servant, but His servant's descendants as well. Noah and his family, Abraham and his seed, and David and his family were all united as beneficiaries of God's covenant relationship. Similarly, we are saved and sustained through life's battles by Christ's covenant with the Father.

Payment And Pattern

Our salvation has been secured, not only because Jesus died for our sins, but because His death was part of a covenant He had with the Father. The fact that Jesus suffered on my behalf is staggering, but His crucifixion was a component of an even more powerful reality: His covenant with the Father.

The terms of Christ's covenant were such that, if He would live His life blamelessly and offer that holy life upon the cross for sins, everyone who looked to the Son of God would be granted forgiveness. The Father would look to Christ's sacrifice and see justice and sinners would look to Jesus and find mercy. Yet, as maturing disciples, we find in Christ's covenant-mission not only our peace, but also a pattern Christ calls us to follow. He told His disciples, "...as the Father has sent Me, I also send you" (Jn 20:21). Having laid down His life in covenant surrender, He now bids us, "take up [your] cross, and follow Me" (Matt 16:24). Of course, our cross does not replace His cross nor do the sub-covenants we make with God supersede Christ's covenant. The truth is, our cross extends the power of Christ's cross into our world and times, and our sub-covenant with God finds its backing because of Christ's covenant with God.

Thus, the Lord calls us to follow Him in personal covenants for our homes, cities and nations. The covenant we embrace is nothing less than the expression of Christ's nature, revealed again through us for our families, cities and nation.

The Harvest and Covenant Power

To many Christians, the idea of making a special covenant with God is unfamiliar. Yet, I believe that many have already felt the Holy Spirit speaking, urging them to deepen their commitment to Christ. Even so, covenants and our obedience to them must come from our hearts in response to the Lord's initiative. You will know the extent of your covenant by the measure of vision and faith, which also come from God.

Especially in the last days, we need to become a people who know the truth given us through Christ's covenant. And, in following Him, we should also know the unique endowment of grace He brings in making special covenants with us.

Indeed, Daniel 11:28-32 warns that the last days will be a time of unprecedented deception and spiritual intrigue. According to this text, Satan's rage will be hurled uniquely against "the holy covenant"! (v 28a) Yet, in this same chapter we read, "...but the people who know their God will display strength and take action. And those who have insight among the people will give understanding to the many" (Dan 11:32-33a).

The prophecy continues, "And those who have insight will shine brightly like the brightness of the expanse of heaven, and those who lead the many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever" (Dan 12:3). In the midst of great deception there will be a time and a people who know their God, have great insight, do exploits and lead many to righteousness. They will receive a new and powerful endorsement of God's Spirit.

Additionally, if the enemy will be warring specifically against the Holy Covenant, we can assume there is something of unparalleled power that Christ's covenant provides against Satan! A new authority is coming to those who desire full conformity to Christ. For a great harvest is indeed prophesied for the end of this age, and those leading the way will be individuals who understand Christ's covenant and have themselves covenanted with God for their land.

God's Unalterable Commitment

It is right to pray for the Lord to bless our lives. However, praying for the blessing and provision of God is not the same as covenanting with Him. A covenant is an altar upon which the Lord and His covenant partner give themselves fully to each other. The quality of a covenant relationship with God does not cease once prayers have been answered. For, in covenant love we mature from simply being "believers" to becoming living sacrifices, given to God's highest plans. By so yielding, He creates within us a life that He can use extraordinarily in the process of divine redemption.

Covenant power is greater than that which comes through prayer alone. The effects of a covenant reach far beyond simple faith. Prayer and faith are essentials, they are prerequisites, but not substitutes, for covenant power. The covenant relationship is a lifelong pledge, an unbreakable oath which God Himself initiates and promises to sustain. Contained within His promise is His unalterable commitment, not only to satisfy His redemptive purposes, but to supply grace and faith to His human counterpart. Together, the All-Sufficient God and a believing man accomplish the impossible through their covenant relationship.

The Power Released in a Covenant

A covenant with God accomplishes two interconnected goals. It thrusts us beyond "subjective prayer" (prayer made primarily for our personal needs), and it brings us into a deeper commitment to God. Out of greater commitment comes greater grace to accomplish God's redemptive work in the world. An example of covenant power is seen in ancient Israel during the revival which occurred after Athaliah, an idolatrous Judean queen, was dethroned. Jehoiada, the high priest, looked to God in covenant prayer. We read, "Then Jehoiada made a covenant between the Lord and the king and the people, that they should be the Lord's people..." (2 Kings 11:17).

The result of his covenant was that grace came upon the people and they cleansed the land of idolatry. We read, "So all the people of the land rejoiced and the city was quiet..." (v 20). Jehoiada's covenant brought the nation back to God and ended violence in Jerusalem!

Consider also the power released in Hezekiah's covenant with God. The nation of Judah had been fully corrupted by Ahaz, the preceding king. However, Hezekiah began his reign by seeking God's highest favor. He opened the doors of the temple and reconsecrated the priests.

Yet, the purification of priests and buildings by themselves would not have brought about revival had not Hezekiah taken one further step. He said, "Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with the Lord God of Israel, that His burning anger may turn away from us" (2 Chr 29:10).

Just eight days after the king made a covenant with the Lord, we read, "Then Hezekiah and all the people rejoiced over what God had prepared for the people, because the thing came about suddenly" (v 36). The difference between a long-term struggle and a speedy turning of the nation was, I believe, in the power which was released when the king covenanted with the Almighty.

It is vital that we who are Americans remember that our spiritual forefathers were people who knew and exercised principles of covenant sacrifice. When they came to this country, they knelt on its shores and covenanted with God for this land, dedicating the "new world" to Christ and His kingdom. It is unlikely that the revival of our nation will come without local and national church leaders covenanting together with God for their land.

Making A Covenant With God

A personal covenant with God is a serious commitment, worthy of extended prayer and focused waiting before God. I have covenanted with the Lord to see the body of Christ delivered of carnal divisions and racism; my covenant goal is that Christ's prayer of John 17 be answered.

I have also united my life and faith with the covenants of our Pilgrim forefathers. Together with other brethren, both locally and nationally, we have covenanted with God to see this land restored according to 2 Chronicles 7:14.

I believe there will be a time when this nation, like all nations, will become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ (Rev 11:15). Until then, whether revival comes quickly or we pass through the fires of divine judgments, our lives belong to Christ-not simply to be blessed or prosperous, but to see His highest purposes accomplished in our land.

However, not all of us will covenant with God for the nation. According to their faith, some will make covenants with Him for their families. Others will covenant to see abortion ended in their cities. While still others will covenant with God for the church--to see unity established in the citywide church in their cities.

Making a covenant with God takes us further into our goal of Christlikeness. It is the highest relationship we can enjoy with God and it is the most deeply surrendered. It is, in truth, that which brings Him the most pleasure. To those who covenant with God, He says, "Gather My godly ones to Me, those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice" (Ps 50:5). Today, as this nation stands at the threshold of two realities, let us take time in contemplative prayer and kneel before the Almighty Father. In Christlike, focused surrender, as Christ was a living sacrifice for our sins, so let us become living sacrifices to God for those we love. Let us embrace covenant oneness with God that His purpose and passions be fulfilled in our lives and in our times.

Day 28 of "40 Days for 40 Years" 12 Days to Go

Julie MeyerThe Lord came to me and said, "I want you to meet My friends." I was really excited thinking I was on a journey to meet Isaiah, Jeremiah, Peter, Zechariah, Moses. He took me by the hand, and we started flying around in the sky, kind of like a cartoon loop to loop. I was not scared even though I was extremely high above the ground and the earth. We were just flying around, and I could feel the breeze on my face. I could feel His hand holding my hand, and I was so high off of the ground and loved feeling the wind on my face. I was so aware that I was not afraid, just holding onto His hand.

All of a sudden, I saw His face change. He set His face intently to the earth and we started to head directly to the ground. I looked at Him, I looked at His face and I could see in His eyes and in His face a determination.

"...Therefore I have set My face like a flint..." (Isaiah 50:7).

I kept thinking we would surely not hit the ground, but I looked at His face and it was set. I felt this horrible dread come upon me, even though I was holding His hand. We were flying very fast in a head dive toward the ground and He did not look like He was going to turn around.

All of a sudden, we exploded right through the ground! I felt the pound on my head. It was like watching an action movie. I could hear the sound of the earth exploding around us, like the sound of standing right beside a rocket ship as it blasts off into space. It was deafening. We were traveling right through the earth, and the Lord's face never turned to the left or the right; it was set--straight ahead.

I could see with my eyes every moment--coming near the earth, hitting the ground, and blasting right through it. I could see the earth, the rock, the water, a burning fire, and I could feel the very tearing and burning of my skin. I was really feeling the rock and earth tear into my skin, as if it was really happening to me. I could feel horrible pain in my dream.

We suddenly came to the other side and burst out through the earth. I stood there, and I looked down at my body--it was all torn, my skin was torn, and I could feel the pain of it--but it was not about me.

Jesus looked at me, right up in my face, eye to eye, and He said, "I want you to meet My friends." I was crying because all of my body hurt. I was thinking that surely He would notice how badly I was hurt, and how badly my skin was wounded and torn, but He did not. I looked around and saw that we were in a very crowded place. I had never been there before, but I knew it was India. It had a horrible smell, there were so many people everywhere, and I was following the Lord. He was not even looking at me. It was like He wanted me to feel the pain of the tear of my skin.

There were little children everywhere. There were beautiful young girls in cages, and Jesus was with each one of them. He would just stand there with them. The seemingly forgotten of the earth were those whom the Lord called His friends. I saw children lying on the ground with flies on their skin, and I saw them pass from this horrible life to the next and the minute they awakened in eternity, He was there, for each one, He was there. NOT ONE of them is forgotten in His eyes, not one of them.

The sadness of what I was seeing, along with the agonizing pain my body felt, left me crying and crying. The Lord came over to me and got right up in my face and I thought it would be about me, I thought He would notice my pain at that moment, but He said, "Until your heart is torn and ripped like your flesh is now, you do not know My friends." It was absolutely more then I could take in. I was right there watching children die, mothers taking their last breath, disease spreading, and young girls being sold, and He kept saying, "Until your heart is torn and ripped like your flesh is now, you do not know My friends. You do not know Me." Then when I sunk into a heap of tears, to my surprise, He got right into my face, eye to eye, and said in a low whisper, "It is time to dance." He said it like it was His secret weapon, the dance...

He started doing this dance with His feet, like a stomping. Those perfect feet that revealed the very scars of death and life were dancing this rhythmic, tribal stomp--the feet of the Lord who stomps out injustice. It was the most powerful dance and stomp I have ever witnessed. To watch the Lord himself, with the scars of passion dance upon the injustice of His friends. He said it again, "Until your heart is torn and ripped in two, you do not know My friends. You do not know Me."

Then Jesus grabbed my hand, and we headed straight through the center of the earth and again, I felt the horrible pain of my skin and flesh ripping and tearing right off my bones and that thunderous sound as we were blasting right through the earth. Suddenly, we were standing in a doctor's office, like a clinic. My first thought was of myself and how much pain I was in. I felt as if I had no skin on my bones, like it had all been ripped off. He said again, "I want you to meet My friends."

I looked around, and I saw a trash can filled with babies. I could see heads and hands and tiny feet. Babies filled trash can after trash can. Some were still alive and moving, their skin was burned, some of their heads were crushed, some were completely whole, their eyes wide open and starring. I felt as if I was in shock. The Lord looked right up into my eyes with His eyes and He said, "Until your heart is ripped and torn like your flesh, you do not know My friends. These are My friends." I was standing there as another baby was thrown by his leg into the trash can, a whole baby. I could feel the very thoughts of the Lord.

"Oh the silent of the earth, the seemingly forgotten ones. YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN! YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN! YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN!"

The babies were silent in that room on earth, but they had a voice that has the ear of the Father, God Almighty!

Their screams never cease throughout the corridors of eternity. They are crying out, day and night and night and day , and they HAVE THE ATTENTION OF HEAVEN. THEY HAVE THE ATTENTION, THE EAR, OF GOD ALMIGHTY. I started screaming out, "YOU DO THIS NOT IN VAIN, LOU! YOU DO THIS NOT IN VAIN, LOU ENGLE! YOU DO THIS NOT IN VAIN, LOU!"

I could see through the Hall of eternity that Heaven knows the very name of Lou Engle. Lou knows the friends of the Lord. I could hear the continual cry of the babies throughout the corridors of Heaven, the seemingly silent of the earth, the forgotten of the earth, but they have the ear of the Father, and they are day and night and night and day, crying out for justice on the strong of the earth, crying out for justice on the very ones that took their lives.

But...in eternity THEY HAVE A VOICE!!! Day and night and night and day...crying out for justice on the seemingly strong of the earth...and THEY have their FATHER'S EAR! And again, the Lord looked straight into my eyes and said, "Until your heart is ripped and torn like your flesh is now, you do not know my friends, you do not know Me."

I stood there sobbing and sobbing, and then He got right in my face again, right up close to my eyes, and said in a low whisper, "It's time to dance." He started that "New Dance" with those perfect feet that tread the high places of the earth, now those feet were dancing and stomping, right in the middle of this abortion clinic.

It was so powerful. It was always at the time when I was the most broken and the most undone that He would say, "It is time to dance. It's time to war, to dance is to war." He would stomp, with this new rhythm, this stomp with His feet. It was not the two-step, it was the Judge stomping out injustice, with His very own feet! He said, "Just wait until the earth joins Me in this dance. Few have joined Me, and I am extending the invitation, but you can only dance when your heart is the most torn and broken."

Then He came up to me again and said,"I want you to meet some of My friends." And right through the earth we went, yet again. I could barely stand. My heart was broken. My skin was torn. I looked down and it looked as if a bomb had exploded right next to me. We were walking down a very, very busy street. He was ahead of me and I was in so much pain, I wanted Him to walk slower, but it was not about me. He wanted me to feel the pain, because He wanted my heart to KNOW the pain, embrace it, and take it as my own.

He waited for me to walk right beside him. This place I knew was Israel. At different times I would see Him tip His head at someone, as if to say,"Hello" or "Shalom." He did not speak, He only tipped His head. He would catch their eye, and then tip His head back, and I would look at the person He was tipping His head to, and I saw their eyes bulge. I looked inside of them and I could see a light go on. I could see Jesus, with just a glance, open the eyes of their heart, and they could literally SEE Him as Jesus, the Messiah. I could see on the inside of them, as we walked down this path in Jerusalem, that all of a sudden the eyes of their heart were opened, and a small flame started to burn on the inside of them.

Some of the people He tipped his head to I knew had great authority, heads in the Jewish community--rabbis. I could literally see in a glance the Lord opening up their eyes; I could see the Lord appearing. He was appearing to some of the top rabbis in the land, and just with a glance and a nod, a flame of revelation started to burn on the depths of the inside, in a second the eyes of their hearts were opened.

"For the LORD will rebuild Zion and appear in His glory" (Psalm 102:16).

We followed these Rabbis up to their rooms, as they went up into the upper rooms of their houses. I watched these Rabbis fall on their knees and cry out, "This Changes EVERYTHING. This changes EVERYTHING!" I saw the Lord go over and blow on that tiny ember of revelation on the inside, and little by little, it started to burn like an unquenchable fire. I could see this small flame of revelation become like "fire shut up in their bones." I saw that this fire would continue to burn until the appointed day would come when these Rabbi's could hold it in no longer and they would shout it from the top of the mountains, "Yeshua is Messiah...YESHUA IS MESSIAH!" I thought about how we pray for this in our little prayer meetings from Kansas City, that Jesus would appear in His Glory. He really, really is.

I looked over, and this was the first time I saw the face of Jesus. He had tears running down His cheeks, and I could hear Him saying, "Oh Jerusalem, Oh Jerusalem." I could feel in my heart the passion and the love that He had for Israel. And I could feel the hurt of a lover when no love is given in return. He looked at me, yet again, and said, "Until your heart is ripped and torn, just like your skin is now, you do not know My friends. You do not know Me."

I could feel deep in my being the depths of love that He had for Israel--like Jacob loved Rachel, like Elkanah loved Hannah, yet His passion extended far beyond natural love. I was yet again crying and crying, and the salt of my tears stung the wounds of my flesh, yet I could not stop crying. Right when I thought I could take no more, and I had fallen to a crumpled heap on the floor, He said in a low whisper, "It is time to dance."

All of a sudden, we were right in front of the Wailing Wall, and He started again, this stomping, this rhythm, this dance with those perfect feet, like none I have ever seen. It was always at the point where I felt the most brokenness and grief that He would say, "It is time to dance." I could feel the presence of power, and I could feel the power of this dance, dancing upon injustice. Oh, what a sight to see when the Son of God and His perfect feet come spinning around and dancing on injustice! Jesus kept saying, "It's time to dance. It's time to dance."

There is a new dance coming, that will simply come out of our worship and our hearts breaking for the poor of the earth, for the seemingly forgotten, for the ones the Lord calls His friends. Just when our hearts are the most broken, THAT is when it is time to dance. Oh, what a sight to see when the King of Kings, the Judge of the earth and His perfect feet that show the scars of passion, begin to dance and stomp out injustice. It is a literal dance. It is a literal stomp!

It is time to dance. I knew this in my dream as we were walking down the streets of Jerusalem, right up to the wall where He started His dance. I knew that He was revealing Himself to very key people in the Jewish community, very high rabbis in the Jewish community even in the middle of the dance. I saw their eyes bulge. I could look inside of them and see their hearts begin to pound. I could see the Lord put inside of them "a knowing" that He and He alone was the Messiah. The day is coming, in the timing of the Lord, when He will stir up the hearts of the top appointed rabbis, and they will explode on the inside and run to the highest places in Jerusalem, shouting to all Jerusalem, "Yeshua is the Messiah. Yeshua IS MESSIAH!"

Blessed Is He who comes in the Name of the Lord. Right now, they are hiding it and asking themselves if it really happenened. An appointed time has already been set, and in these days ahead, He is appearing and opening up the eyes of men's hearts, and then He will come and set their very bones on fire. I could see these rabbis exploding with the word of the Lord, proclaiming His appearing. It is happening. It is set for an appointed time. It is happening today.

"But if I say, 'I will not mention Him or speak any more in His name,' His word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones" (Jeremiah 20:9).

Then yet again, He said, "Until your heart is torn and ripped in two, just like your flesh is, you do not know My friends."

It is time to dance!

In the Face of the Impossible

Day 27 of "40 Days for 40 Years" 13 Days to Go

The Making Of A Ministry

"The disciples came to Him, saying, 'The place is desolate, and the time is already past; so send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves.' But Jesus said to them, 'They do not need to go away; you give them something to eat!' And they said to Him, 'We have here only five loaves and two fish'" (Matt. 14:15-17).

I want to talk about how the Lord raises up a mature man or woman of God--the drives and attitudes that propel a person into a fully committed walk with Jesus Christ. It is essential to realize from the beginning that, when it comes to doing God's will, both the person and God's provision will always seem inadequate. Oh, you will have been prepared, somewhat. You will have studied and prayed, but not enough. You will have faithfully given of your time and finances, but nothing you do will be something you can confidently rely upon. Indeed, when you've done all you could, you will mutter to the Lord your equivalent of the disciples': "We have here only five loaves and two fish."

Yet, to know that you are inadequate is a tremendous advantage in spiritual growth. It is a milestone en route toward true spirituality, which is born of dependency on God, not human self-sufficiency. Once a person knows he is inadequate, he will not waste years discovering it.

Not a day goes by that I am not aware of my inadequacies. Besides struggling with "feelings" of inadequacy, I know I actually am inadequate. I know the very best of my efforts, in and of themselves, are totally insufficient. The moment I think otherwise, I guarantee failure for myself.

While the Lord has many ways to inspire my spiritual growth, the greatest seasons of increase come almost in spite of myself. The process begins with the Lord revealing some task or need that is both absolutely necessary and totally impossible for me to fulfill. My first reaction is to pray, "Lord, raise up someone who'll do the job." But then, when no one else shows up, I realize He wants me to step forward. As I do, I soon hear Him say the words He spoke to His disciples, "You give them something to eat."

Sometimes, I hide in the "familiar" tasks I know I can accomplish, but a time of reckoning comes. It usually is a time of pressure or stress which, beginning with the rediscovery of my frailties, ends with me broken and waiting upon the Lord. It is right here, as I am contemplating the pitifully small "five loaves and two fish" which I am offering Jesus, that He says to my heart, "Bring them here to Me." And here is where the miracle of grace begins. For as I surrender myself afresh into His hands, a new dimension in my walk with God starts to unfold, one of supernatural multiplication.

"He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up toward heaven, He blessed the food, and breaking the loaves He gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave to the multitudes, and they all ate, and were satisfied" (vs. 19).

Whatever you give to Jesus He will bless and break. A true disciple always carries these two seeming contradictory characteristics. We know His wonderful, undeserved blessing; and, we are broken of pride, self-sufficiency and boasting. He lets us know assuredly that, as Christians, we have one source for all of our power. The sooner we realize our effectiveness does not originate in us, but in Christ, the quicker we will experience the miracles that He produces. Indeed, when He reveals to us our weaknesses, it is only because He is preparing us to receive more of His power into our lives.

Consider: When Jesus performed the miracle of the loaves and fish, He and His disciples were wearied and needed strength. Added to this came the distressing news that John the Baptist had been beheaded. The Lord was seeking to take His disciples to a place where they could "rest awhile" (Mark 6:31). Yet, great multitudes came, perhaps over twelve thousand men, women and children. It was in this very circumstance of weakness that He performed this great miracle of grace.

As it was with Jesus, so it is with us: It is when we sense our weaknesses most vividly that God can use us most mightily! The Lord will continually present to us tasks that we have never done before. He will require each of us to give our all, even as inadequate as we seem. There will be no "knights in shining armor" in God's kingdom; our armor will have many dings and dents. No perfect Hollywood heros will ride to save the day; just wearied saints to look to God and, in weakness, find Christ's strength. This, indeed, is the essence of God's kingdom: divine greatness manifest in common people.

In these days ahead, the Lord is going to show you a need that will seem absolutely beyond your ability to perform. Your natural response will be, "I'm just an average person with limited resources. I can't do what He's asked me to do." Yet, if you will be still, you shall soon hear your Master's voice quietly, confidently saying, "Bring the need to Me."

Do as He commands. For as you give the insufficiency of your skills and your pitiful provisions to Him, He will begin to bless and break you, and then miraculously multiply what you give Him. In all my years of ministry, I know of no transforming grace greater than that which comes when, in spite of our inadequacies, we obey God in the face of the impossible

Rick JoynerLove and War

It was forty years ago this summer that the "Summer of Love" in San Francisco ignited the counter-cultural revolution, and with it began one of America's greatest identity crises. Some of her strongest foundations were shaken, eroding religious faith, morality, devotion to family, and basic integrity.

This great clash of cultures and ideas came at the very peak of the Cold War, the greatest confrontation between democracy and communism. It appeared as if the West had surely lost this confrontation, as the very fabric of its existence was melting down. Then, to just about everyone's surprise, the seemingly doomed ship of Western civilization righted itself under the simple, yet clear and focused leadership of President Ronald Reagan and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Margaret Thatcher. Such a confidence and clear vision was regained in the West that not only did the tide of the Cold War turn, but it led to a swift and resounding victory in that confrontation--so swift that many are still wondering how it happened and what it means.

First though, the great identity crisis ignited in the 1960s staggered America, but the ship righted itself because of more than just the leadership of Reagan and Thatcher. The foundations of America were well laid by the founding fathers, and it would take much more than the counter-cultural movements born in the 1960s to destroy them. However, they have suffered erosion, and the constant attacks on them since the 1960s have weakened them further. Likewise, there have been some great acts and movements to help shore them up from time to time, but like the World Trade Center buildings, America is vulnerable. Liberty itself is in jeopardy.

THE GREATEST WAR?

Consider this concerning the Cold War--no victory in any war has ever resulted in a faster and more profound change in the political landscape of the world than this one did. However, the Cold War was not like any war ever fought before. It was not a war of military battles with physical casualties and property destroyed. It was fought more with banks, currencies, and business strategies; yet, as stated, no war ever changed the map of the world as much as, or faster than, the victory in this one did. However, few really understood the true battle lines, even many of those who were on the forefront of them! It was generally understood that the economic strength of the West eventually wore down the communist bloc, and that was a part of it, but there was much more behind the West's victory.

This victory over communism and the tearing down of the Iron Curtain was prophesied by some, but its swiftness and completeness surprised even the prophets who had predicted it. The spiritual, political, and economic opportunities were so great that they left almost everyone paralyzed, not knowing where to start. The vacuum created by this hesitation was quickly filled by the less desirable or worse and has created some problems for those who lived under the communist yoke, causing some of them to wish for "the good old days." How could anyone do that?

THE PRISON OF FREEDOM

One thing that happens to a person who is imprisoned for more than a couple of years is that their "decision maker" begins to atrophy, and once released, it takes a long time to build it back up. I have watched someone released from prison be paralyzed by a simple menu, and become unable to even choose what they want to eat. Jim Bakker shared with me how, shortly after he was released from prison, it was impossible for him to decide even between two car rental companies at an airport, and he had to ask someone to just choose for him. Now consider this--the people living under communism had been in prison for their entire lives. Every decision was made for them, and they never had a decision maker to begin with.

Totalitarianism is terrible, but lawlessness is even worse. As the authority structure of the communist states collapsed, organized crime filled the vacuum in many places and actually threatened to take over Russia and other former Soviet states. Many are decrying President Putin for swinging back toward totalitarianism, but he is probably reacting in the only way that this crisis of increasing lawlessness and crime could be addressed.

Seeing what was happening in the former Soviet states, China has much more gradually released economic freedom. Without question, once people experience freedom of any kind, they will ultimately demand more freedom of every kind; however, the changes will not be nearly as chaotic as people gradually learn how to make decisions and use their freedoms responsibly.

I remember watching an old movie in which some prisoners had been kept in solitary confinement in dark holes. When they were brought out, they had to be given sunglasses because they could hardly bear any light for a long time. Too much light for someone coming out of darkness is not illuminating, but blinding. For them the darkness is less painful than too much light. This is why ex-convicts often commit crimes in order to be arrested and taken back to prison; the security of the prison is actually more desirable than freedom that demands making decisions, which they just cannot make and are terrifying to them.

This same principle is true for mental or spiritual darkness as well. Someone who has been subjected to a controlling church will often have even more difficulty adjusting to one where there is a lot of freedom. Someone who has been in an abusing, controlling relationship will usually have a lot of trouble adjusting to one where they are given a lot more freedom.

It is understandable that many Russians started longing for the "good old days" of totalitarianism when they had to start dealing with choices, and then the even more terrible specter of lawlessness. The present chaos in some parts of Iraq was inevitable after the totalitarianism of Saddam, and considering the natural enmity between the Shiite and Sunni factions, it is remarkable that the conflict is not much worse there. We can expect it to get worse, however.

THE GREAT DANGER

It was also prophesied that when communism began to collapse, many of the former elements of communism would merge with radical Islamic forces to become a greater danger to world peace than communism had been. This has now come to pass. Not only Western civilization, but civilization itself is facing the greatest threat ever to its existence.

The "War on Terror" is not an adequate name to describe the present conflict. This conflict is already much more confusing than the Cold War, which at least seemed clearly political and economic, though it was of course a very religious battle too. Even so, the confusion of the Cold War only had to do with how to fight it, but most knew what the issues were. What we are facing now is more than a clash of civilizations, and it is not just a religious war either. There is a difference between a religious conflict, or the clash of religious ideals or doctrines, and a spiritual war. All wars are spiritual wars, as we are told in Ephesians 6:12, "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."

Many are seeing this as a clash between Christianity and Islam, but it is bigger than that. There are some aspects of the clash between light and darkness where Christianity and Islam are on the same side--such as the battle with secular and atheistic humanism. There may be some areas where Christians would likewise side with secularists against extreme Moslems or even Christian extremists, such as those who advocate stoning homosexuals.

THE ONLY TRUE VICTORY

This war is a battle for the hearts and minds of people. It is a spiritual war, and the weapons are spiritual, not carnal. This was actually true in the Cold War, too, as a main tenet of communism was to destroy religion. However, the communists declared for seventy years that God was dead, and then God in one day said "communism is dead," and it died, fast. Some nations have managed to keep it on a form of life support, but it is in fact dead. It was not just Wall Street that tore down the Iron Curtain, but it was the Word of God that brought it down.

The Word of God is far more powerful than any bomb, or than all bombs combined. When the Lord spoke, the heavens were created out of nothing. He can likewise speak a single word and make anything into nothing again. However, He limits His intervention in this world to what we ask Him for. Why? Because as He declared in Psalm 115:16, "The heavens are the heavens of the Lord; but the earth He has given to the sons of men." Therefore, He will not intervene in the earth's affairs until men ask Him to.

The positive side of this is that the Lord will intervene in our affairs if we ask Him to. Every human problem is basically the result of mankind trying to run this world without God's help, and therefore the answer to every human problem is God's help. Yes, it is that simple.

The key to getting God's help is for Him to find an intercessor. A true intercessor is more than one who just prays for the needs of the people; it is one who is in such unity with God that they pray according to His will. It is good for people to be in unity. But if anyone desires to do good in the earth, it is much more effective for them to agree with God than to be in agreement with other people. One word from Him can change the world more than any election, army, or war.

We will come back to this, but keep in mind that our main goal is to know and understand the Lord and His purposes so that we are aligned with Him. Human conflicts are a reflection of the spiritual battles that are raging for the souls of men, and we are commanded to not be ignorant of the schemes of the devil. Therefore, we need to understand what happened in the Cold War and the present war, which I will address briefly here.

THE BATTLE LINES

The Cold War did have some physical battles, such as in China, Korea, Vietnam, and on a smaller scale in a number of Asian, African, and European nations. However, the economic conflict was a much bigger and more important battlefield in deciding the outcome than these physical conflicts. The Soviet Union could not continue to compete with the economic power of the West, and simply collapsed under the weight of trying to keep up. Why? The power of personal liberty, personal responsibility, and personal ownership can never be matched by socialism for motivation and initiative, which directly factor into productivity.

This is the 400th anniversary of the founding of the English colony at Jamestown, Virginia. One of the most important lessons of economics, which helped to set the course of America was demonstrated there. For the first two years, the colonists had a communal garden. For the first two years, 50 percent of the colonists died each winter from starvation. The third year, they decided to give a plot of ground to every person, and let them each eat what they grew personally. No one ever starved at Jamestown again.

The idealistic believe that this is an anomaly, and that people, out of the goodness of their hearts, will want to work hard for other people. The idealistic people who believe this are probably the kind of good-hearted people who would work hard for others. Since they only make up 1 or 2 percent of the people, this has not worked in history on any large scale. If it worked at all, it was in small, isolated cases, and most of the time it failed there too.

This does not mean that the people, who include almost all of us, are selfish because we need more personal motivation. We were made that way. God commanded Adam to "be fruitful and multiply" (see Genesis 1:22), and there is something in every human being that wants to be successful. This, of course, has been perverted because of the Fall and sin, but it was part of the nature that man was given. Anything that dilutes this will dilute the motivation and initiative of a person.

One definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over while expecting different results. History resoundingly testifies that the more common and diverse the benefits of our labors are, the less motivated we will be.

Rare is the person who will work harder for someone else than they will for themselves or their own family.

Drive through any neighborhood and the rented houses will stand out from those that are occupied by their owners just about every time. We can keep on trying socialism, and I suspect many will because those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it, but the results will always be the same.

This is why "the American dream" of owning your own home is important. It is not just about the house. It is about personal liberty and the need for personal responsibility that motivates us. This is why the most truly prosperous nations in the world are almost all found where Protestant Christianity took root. Why? Because the Protestant Reformation established that salvation was personal, not just institutional. You were saved by having personal faith in Jesus and His atonement, not by being part of an institution. This gave infinite value and responsibility to the individual. This gave birth to "the Protestant work ethic."

Without question, drive, initiative, and endurance will be multiplied when there are personal consequences to our labors. Creativity is also magnified. Here is another prophecy--though the European Union and the euro seem to be flying high right now, they will both collapse under the weight of entitlements. The EU in its present form would not be possible without German economic strength. Germany continues to carry the weight of the EU, and it is not likely that Germany will remain asleep to this much longer. I only share this here to show that those who are prone to point to the EU as an example of socialism working will have to change their story soon.

THE COMING KINGDOM

The kingdom of God will not be socialism, but a freedom even greater than anyone on earth knows at this time. At first it may seem like totalitarianism, as the Lord will destroy the antichrist spirit now dominating the world with "the sword of His mouth" and will shatter many nations like pottery. However, fundamental to His rule is II Corinthians 3:17, "Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." Instead of taking away liberties and becoming more domineering, the kingdom will move from a point of necessary control while people are learning truth, integrity, honor, and how to make decisions, to increasing liberty so that they can.

God created mankind to be free, and that is our most natural state, which is why He put the Tree of Knowledge in the Garden. It was not to cause Adam and Eve to fall, but there could be no true obedience unless there was an opportunity to disobey. Likewise, there can be no true worship unless there is the freedom not to worship. Otherwise, the Lord would have done better to have just created a computer instead of man and programmed the computers to worship Him! What kind of worship would that be? Freedom is required for true worship, true obedience, and true relationship.

The kingdom will start out necessarily authoritative in many ways, or in many areas, but will move toward increasing liberty--so do all true churches and movements that are advancing toward the kingdom. You may have to be very controlling of toddlers, but the older they get, the more they can be trusted, and the more freedom they should have if they are going to develop into true maturity, which requires personal responsibility.

Those who are here to help prepare the way for the coming of the kingdom, which includes all Christians who are alive now, can learn much from the fall of the Iron Curtain. The same lessons can apply in a local church when ministering to those coming out of a spiritually or emotionally controlling relationship or prison. However, we must start thinking bigger. The Great Commission is to make disciples, not just converts, and of nations, not just individuals. Those who are called to rule and reign with Him must start thinking much bigger.

THE MOST POWERFUL WEAPON

Love and truth are divinely powerful weapons, greater than any earthly weapon. Both of these are contained in the anointed Word of God. When God speaks, it happens. And He can speak through anyone, at any time, about anything. However, He often speaks through world leaders, even though they may not even be aware of it. Those who are not spiritual will not understand this, but those who are spiritual discerned the prophetic anointing on President Reagan's proclamation to Gorbachev when he stood at the Berlin Wall and declared, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!"

Those who sensed that anointing, which was beyond Reagan's personal authority, knew from that point on that the wall was coming down, and Gorbachev would have a part in bringing it down.

Then Pope John Paul II sliced the thin garment of communism to shreds with a continual barrage of anointed prophetic proclamations, and the seemingly impregnable Iron Curtain melted. Those who knew the anointing discerned what was happening and began to proclaim the end of communism as it then existed and the opening of the eastern bloc nations to freedom. You did not have to be a prophet to foresee this, but just discern the prophetic word.

Christians believe in an unseen God and His unseen realm. Heaven is far more powerful and has far more substance than anything in the natural realm. In fact, it is of such greater power and such greater substance that you could drop the biggest nuclear bomb on the head of the smallest angel and not even mess up his hair! Christians, who are here to help prepare the way for the Lord, are here to represent that kingdom. They will be given increasingly powerful words which will shake nations to their foundations, removing nations that are on a wrong foundation, and helping to establish those that have been built on a good foundation. Some nations are to be shattered, and some will "become the kingdom of our Lord..." (Revelation 11:15).

Words are more powerful than armies. When Abraham Lincoln met Harriet Beecher Stowe, the author of Uncle Tom's Cabin, he said, "So you're the little lady who started this great war!" He meant the Civil War of course, and this was true of her. She had articulated the great issues of the time so clearly that they could no longer go unaddressed.

Prophetic words from God are going to shake the world, set the course of many nations, and make the light and darkness so clear that everyone on earth will have to make a decision between them. These will come through various sources, including books, movies, art, music, and sermons. In fact, it will not be uncommon in these times to see sermons making front-page news. However, you do not have to be behind a pulpit to prophesy.

The power of such words has entirely to do with one thing--alignment. We only have true spiritual authority to the degree that we are abiding in the King. It is His word spoken through us that has power. It is for this reason that those who will be used in this way are learning the value of words. They know well that "Death and life are in the power of the tongue..." (Proverbs 18:21).

We are living in what is called "the information age," in which knowledge is now esteemed as the most valuable commodity. However, there is something far more valuable--the anointing. In John 10, we are told that His sheep know His voice, and they follow Him because they know His voice. That is true; we do follow Him to the degree that we know our Shepherd's voice. Now those who have learned this and have followed Him are going to be used as His voice.

We are all soldiers in the greatest war of all. Our most powerful weapons are love and truth, but we must also understand that we cannot expect to be loved in this world, even by those we are fighting for. That is why we must have the Father's perfect love, which does not love in response to love or in repayment for any good done, but just loves, even when rejected or treated unjustly.

The devil is trying to control the world through fear and terror, but the kingdom is coming because of love, and on a highway of love. It is tough love but it is in fact love, and one that will ultimately cast out all fear.

To be rejected as you are laying down your life for others is the cross that Jesus had to bear, and it is the one we are commanded to take up daily. We have to fight for love, even for those who hate us. We have to love even our enemies. We cannot fail to answer the call to this war. We do not have the option to remain at home or this war will certainly destroy our homes. True warriors always run to the sound of battle, not away from it. This is the time when the true soldiers of the cross are mobilizing. We must each take our place in His army. If you are not in your place, you will not hear the orders when they are given, and you will not be able to be used to give them. Get in your place!

The Call--Nashville 7/7/07

Also, if at all possible, join us at The Call in Nashville on July 7. That is 7/7/07, a significant date that I think could go down as another turning point in our nation's history. It will be held at the Titan's Stadium, and we are expecting at least 100,000 youth there for a day of prayer and fasting for the nation. This kind of thing can also greatly help your kids, as they get a sense that they are not alone, but part of something very big that is going on in the earth. Expect prophetic proclamations that will begin to shake this nation for good. I'll see you there.

A Vision

When I was praying this morning, I saw a large ball of fire come out of heaven. It came right at me and I knew that there was no way I could avoid it, so I didn't even try. It hit me right in the chest. I was then shown the most beautiful bridal dress I have ever seen. It was truly from out of this world, supernaturally beautiful. Then the voice of the Lord came to me and said, "Help My bride put on this dress."

The fire of the Lord has been going through me in waves since this happened.
I know with a supernatural knowing that the bride is about to get ready. I have always had a vision and love for the church, but never like I felt this morning. The church is about to be clothed with a beauty that is beyond this world. She is going to make herself ready and become the glorious bride our Lord deserves. Help her!
